Newgrange, a UNESCO World Heritage site, serves as a testament to an ancient civilization over 5,000 years old. Located in County Meath, Ireland, this prehistoric monument features a passage tomb with a 19-meter-long corridor leading to a central chamber decorated with intricate megalithic art. Its architectural wonder is highlighted by the winter solstice phenomenon, where sunlight enters the inner chamber during the solstice mornings.
The burial mound spans 1.1 acres, encircled by 97 engraved kerbstones. Newgrange's facade includes a large mound supported by an angled wall made of Quartz and Granite. The construction's precision, especially the quartz wall's angle, demonstrates exceptional engineering that stands up to modern standards. The rocks, transported from distant locations, underscore the significant effort put into its construction.
The Winter Solstice event, which occurs around December 21st, signifies the year's shortest day and longest night. At Newgrange, a stunning alignment occurs at sunrise on these days. Sunlight streams through a purpose-built opening above the entrance, slowly lighting up the passage and filling the central chamber with a warm glow for 17 minutes.
Newgrange's ingenious design reflects the builders' deep understanding of celestial patterns. The passage's alignment with the winter solstice sunrise shows an advanced knowledge of astronomy and respect for natural cycles. The construction's success without modern tools is a remarkable achievement.
Moreover, the winter solstice alignment has spiritual importance for many, representing the victory of light over darkness. People worldwide gather at Newgrange to experience this ancient event, rich in myth and legend.
According to legend, the Tuatha Dé Danann erected Newgrange as a burial place for their chief, Dagda Mór, and his sons. Mythological tales depict Newgrange as a site of hospitality and abundance, offering endless supplies and mystical treasures.
Newgrange's Winter Solstice event has been ingrained in local folklore for millennia, long before its rediscovery in 1967. Today, Newgrange stands as an inspiration, symbolizing hope and renewal during the darkest days of winter.
Newgrange serves as our inspiration. During the darkest days of winter, it promises a new season of warmth and prosperity just around the corner. And as the sun’s rays illuminate the central chamber on the Winter Solstice, it brings light to darkness.
As you approach this magical tomb, a large rock sits at an opening to a passage. This rock is beautifully carved with Celtic designs and is known to have the only triple spiral motif Celtic design ever found. The triskelion, carved into this rock at Newgrange's entrance, is a unique Celtic design, representing the site's profound significance.
We offer our clients illuminated strategies and leadership that help bring about new prosperity. Newgrange epitomizes our mission.
Embracing all its symbolism, we offer illuminated strategies and leadership to our clients, embodying Newgrange's promise of prosperity. Our logo, featuring the triskelion motif found at Newgrange, pays homage to its enduring legacy and serves as a reminder of our mission to bring light to darkness. This design, the triskelion, is representative of Newgrange. It was only fitting that we adopt a triskelion motif in our logo.
